Atlanta report of activities (June 23)

A weekly summary of recent events dated June 23, 1967, noted as having “no AUSA report received. Included are reports of recent unrest in the Dixie Hills area over the arrest and beating of several black citizens, details of mass meetings in a church after the arrest and shooting of a black man at the shopping center in an altercation with police, and other incidents of unrest around the shopping center. Also included is news of the founding of a “Youth Corps” for black youths, which the report alleges was condemned and threatened by SNCC volunteers as being traitorous to the black community.
