FBI Report: Racial Disturbance June, 1967 Atlanta, Georgia (June 22)

An FBI report providing updates on the tensions after the killing of Willie Ross, gunned down in the doorway of his home outside the shopping center on June 20, 1967, and subsequent unrest at Dixie Hills Shopping Center. Included in the report are accusations that the center’s owner sold low quality goods at extreme price, conflicting accounts over whether or not officers opened fire into the crowd (the bullets found in Ross’ body were standard issue for police riot guns at the time) in response to the throwing of a molotov cocktail, possible conflicts between local leaders/residents and SNCC activists over the violent nature of the unrest, and testimony from various civic leaders and protestors.
