Memo to Isaac Hunt from Harvey Friedman regarding an interview with Judge E.T. Brock – with handwritten notes

An annotated memo from Harvey Friedman to Atlanta Field Team Leader Isaac Hunt, evaluating the interview of Associate Judge E.T. Brock of the Atlanta Municipal Court. Brock did not believed the protests had any merit and were part of a communist front, and frequently doled out harsh sentences to those arrested. While he denied that defendants were not properly informed of their rights, Friedman and members of the Atlanta bar had put together detailed reports that Brock had not informed most defendants of their rights. Friedman judged Brock to be extreme, unyielding, and more often than not incorrect in his assessment of the city’s political climate.
