Memo to Mr. Nelson from Isaac Hunt regarding an interview with Robert Flanagan – with handwritten notes
An annotated memo from Isaac Hunt, Atlanta Field Team Leader, to Charles Nelson, Director of Field Operations, detailing an interview with Atlanta NAACP executive director Robert Flanagan, dated October 21, 1967. Flanagan expressed gratitude for the responsiveness of Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen to communication, and expressed concerns from residents about lack of police protection/patrol in their neighborhoods, as well as poor sanitation services. He voiced frustration that protests of such drastic level were needed before the city took action but did not consider police brutality to be a major issue. Details on the public school situation and the Atlanta NAACP itself are also included.
